Optional
Equipment/Clothing:
Our
season spans a broad weather spectrum.
We start out very hot and end up fairly cold.
Children are allowed to wear skull caps under their
helmets while playing. It’s
also a good idea to put a long sleeved shirt
underarmor, or a sweat shirt on underneath the game jersey,
in colder weather (hooded sweat shirts will not be allowed).
Coats are fine for the sidelines.
Sports hand warmers are a good idea and can be
purchased at Sports Scene, and Dick’s also.
Children are also allowed to wear football gloves ONLY,
mittens or any other gloves can not be worn on the field.

Mt.

Practices:
As
stated before, pre-season has 4-5 practices per week and during the season there are 3
practices per week (to be determined).
Go to the practice schedule page for updates.
Practices usually run about 1 ½ to 2 hours.
Most practices will be held at Lions Park with, occasional
practices elsewhere.
We
will have practice if it is drizzling rain.
We will not have practice in a heavy rain or anytime there is
lightning. I will
telephone and, e-mail everyone as soon as possible if practice is
cancelled. Please let
me know if there is an alternate telephone number that you would
like called instead of your home number (i.e.; work, cell phone,
etc). Also if you
have an e-mail address please let me know and, and I will add it to
my list. All important
correspondences via e-mail (i.e. team notes, practice changes, etc.
) will be followed up in a paper handout at the next practice.
Games:
Please
try to arrive 45 minutes prior to the start of the game for warm-up
drills and stretching. If
for some reason your son cannot make it to a game, please let me
know as soon as possible.
I
will be handing out a snack/drink list.
When
your son is not playing on the field, he will be asked to sit or
stand with his teammates on the sidelines.
It makes substitutions go smoother and helps to promote team
spirit.
First
Aid:
If
and injury occurs I will have a first aid kit on the field.
If the injury is more severe, then I will immediately call
the person you have listed as your contact person incase of
emergency. Any parents
with any medical experience please let me know, I would like you to
be on our staff.
Sportsmanship:
If
you feel another player, coach, referee, etc. is in the wrong,
please address your concerns to me, or an assistant coach.
I am responsible for our team, staff, and parents behavior.
The league doesn’t tolerate belligerent behavior from
anyone. We are all here
to promote a fun, learning environment for our children and negative
behavior or comments will only destroy that.
Special
Events:
·
Homecoming/Bowl
Game:
Our homecoming will be determined later.
This is a really fun day where we meet after the game and,
have a post-game meal of hot dogs and junk food J.
I’ll be handing out a sign up sheet for those wishing to
bring something. We
will be celebrating with all of the Lions Teams.
·
End
of the Year Party:
We will have an end of the year party to celebrate our season
and let the team know how great they did.
More details will be available later in the season.
Picture
Day:
Picture
day is undetermined at this time but, I am guessing that it will be
Saturday August 20th, time is not known yet.
I will let everyone know when I know.
Etc.:
I
will be handing out a team roster, play book, and team rules in the
upcoming weeks.
Please
check this web site for more information from your coaches.
Parent
Participation:
Any
parent whom would like to be more involved in the team, as an
assistant in practice, please let me know.
Occasionally
at practice we may run short of coaches, and would like your help
with some of the drills. Also
at our home games we are in charge of the sideline equipment,
before, during, and after the game.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Please be sure to check
the volunteer sheet for the times you need to volunteer.
If you need to make a change please do so with another family
and let the league know of the change.
